I was lucky to have Mr. Hess as a teacher when I was in Junior High and last year my son Donovan started Junior High and also got to be blessed with such a great teacher, but he was more than just a great teacher, he was a great man who just cared. Even the little things he did like making sure my son was given sun block when he forgot it and I wasn't with him at the pool were appreciated and will be remembered. His family was blessed to have him in their lives and I pray peace is found in knowing this.

Ellie swam for New Kensington YMCA from 1994-2007 and (because we shared the same last name but was not related)Mark was always there to offer support and encouragement along the way. I swam for him from 1986-1990 (and went on to swim 4 years in college), and during that time, he was a coach, a mentor, a friend, a cheerleader and just an amazing person with a depth of character that is so rare to find. He was also an incredible teacher, with a gentle touch, always positive words and attitude. It was obvious that he loved what he did and the life he created in Indiana Junior High and with his family. He will be missed by so many.
