Obituary for James Myers

James Myers, 89, of Pequea, Lancaster County and formerly of the Clymer area, died April 15, 2017. Born April 10, 1928 in Porter, PA, he was a son of the late John Myers and Ellen J. (Oshel) Myers.

Mr. Myers moved to Lancaster where he had a thirty year career as a press operator for Alcoa Aluminum retiring in 1998. Jim was a hardworking man who led a simple life. He enjoyed being outdoors and going hunting and fishing. He was married to Mabel L. (Jewartt) Myer was before her death on February 2,1998. Together they raised six children.

His surviving children are: Howard Myers & wife Shirley, Indiana; Ellenj Waltermyer & husband Jerry, Lancaster; James W. Myers & wife Darlene, Lancaster; Mary Mackley & husband Craig; June Reynolds & husband Lee, Lancaster; and John Myers, Pequea. Also survived by his six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and one sister: Flora M. Kurhana, Indiana.

In addition to his parents and wife, Jim was preceded in death by his siblings: Howard Burkhart; Davie Schultz; and Panadore Holzworth.

Friends will be received Thursday evening, April 20th from 6-8 PM and on Friday morning from 11AM until1 PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Clymer, where his funeral service will begin following the visitation on Friday at 1PM. Pastor James Fleeger will officiate. Burial will be at Marion Center Memorial Cemetery.
