Obituary for Benjamin Franklin Gapshes
Benjamin Franklin Gapshes, 82, of Penn Run, died Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Indiana Regional Medical Center. Born April 26, 1940, in Dubois, he was a son of the late Tony and Wilda Mae (Beatty) Gapshes. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Leamer) Gapshes, whom he married November 10, 1962.
Ben served in the US Army in Vietnam. He was a coal miner, working more than 30 years for R & P Coal.
He enjoyed fishing and was a member of C & Y Sportsman’s Club and several other area fishing clubs. He was also a member at the Dixonville Moose.
Ben is survived by his wife, Barbara as well as his two children: Stacia Haines (Frank) of Indiana and Steven Gapshes, of Penn Run.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
