Life Story for Bernard Allen "Bernie" Rankin

Bernard “Bernie” Allen Rankin, 65, of Clarion and formerly of Homer City, died Sunday, December 26, 2021 surrounded by family at his residence in Homer City. Born November 8, 1956, in Indiana, he was a son of the late Blair Rankin and Evelyn (Adams) Rankin. He was engaged to the late Cathy Carey, who was the love of his life.

A graduate of Homer Center, Bernie went on to work as a self-employed mechanic. He owned his own body shop for many years in York, PA. Bernie took great pride in his work on vehicles, it was one of his greatest passions. He also loved the Patriots, fishing, and cooking; and he will always be remembered for his incredible sense of humor.

Bernie was a member of the Homer City American Legion; and the Fraternal Order of Eagles and VFW, both of Clarion.

He will be missed by his daughter, Marlene Rankin, of Penn Hills; and his twin-sister, Barb Dominguez, of Homer City, and sister, Luann Boozer (Ed), of Somerset. Bernie will also be remembered by his grandchildren Kiersten Baker and Garrett Fissel; many nieces and nephews; his special friends: Shona Baker and Randy Thornsberry, as well as many other friends.

In addition to his parents, and his fiancée Cathy, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Angie Baker; and the following siblings: Tom Rankin, Denise Flowers, Kenneth Rankin, and Francis “Bim” Rankin.

The Rankin family is being assisted by Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home & Crematory.
