Obituary for Diana Alice Dorothy Williamson

Diana Alice Dorothy Williamson, 91 of Indiana, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Rose Haven Personal Care Home, Indiana, PA. She was born in Goodmayes, Essex, UK. She was the widow of John Williamson.

Diana, known affectionately by many as “Dee Dee,” was a loving, caring person. She enjoyed traveling the world when she was young, famously taking a bicycling trip around Europe in “a frock and sandals.” She studied art and was a member of the Barnes Foundation for Art in Philadelphia. Diana enjoyed caring for plants, playing her piano, and listening to music. She also loved cats and dogs. She was a member of a book reading group and a lunch group in Indiana and developed great friendships with other members. She stayed in touch with her family and friends by making and sending her own unique greeting cards. Diana was socially and politically active in Indiana County and had served as President of the New Century Club.

She graduated from London University and received her Master’s in Social Work from Oxford University. She held many professional positions during her career, most notably at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where her caring, compassionate social work care impacted the lives of countless patients.

She is remembered by her children: Michael Thomas Williamson (Ann Rea), Indiana; Robert Williamson, Aspen, CO; and Alexander Williamson (Mark Mowrey), Laguna Beach, CA. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jacob Williamson-Rea (Marielle), Leo Williamson-Rea; Cian Williamson-Rea. Other surviving family members include her nieces: Claire and Lucy Killen.

Diana was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a sister, Jane Killen.

A service will be planned in the Spring of 2024, as Diana wished to avoid any remembrance services in the winter. In appreciation for the outstanding care Diana received at Rose Haven Personal Care Home, her family asks that memorial donations be made to the wonderful staff at Rose Haven, 132 Haven Dr., Indiana, PA 15701.

The family is being assisted by the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home & Crematory of Indiana. Online condolences may be made by visiting rbfh.net.
