Duane Allen “Guppy” Sturgeon, 63 of Clymer, died Saturday, June 20, 2020 at his home. Born in Indiana, December 30, 1956, he was a son of the late John Edward Sturgeon and Dorothy (Ashbaugh) Sturgeon.

Duane was a hardworking man who enjoyed staying busy. He liked to shoot pool, enjoyed hunting and fishing and being outdoors. But most of all, he enjoyed the time he had with his grandchildren.

He is remembered by his daughter, Jamie L. Hillegas, Windber; by his three grandchildren: Brittney Hankinson, Paul Hankinson, III and Koltin Dugan. His surviving siblings are: Carol Miles (Earl), Blairsville; Rick Sturgeon (Shirley), Penn Run; John “Mabon” Sturgeon (Tabitha), Clymer; Janet Stumpf (James), Shelocta; Ronald Sturgeon (Janice), Starford; and Timothy Sturgeon and his companion, Deb Weaver, Penn Run. Duane will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James Sturgeon, and a nephew, Lee Sturgeon.


Service arrangements are private for Duane’s family. Burial will be at the East Mahoning Cemetery, Purchase Line. The Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Clymer is assisting the Sturgeon family.
