Obituary for Elizabeth "Betty" Lukehart

Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Lukehart, 86, of Indiana, died Saturday, June 6, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born November 14, 1933, to Joseph and Mary Ganley, of Ernest, PA.

She graduated from Indiana High School in 1951. She married her high school sweetheart, James “Jim” Lukehart, in 1956. They had three children together and she was an amazing wife and mother. She was the Office Manager at the American Red Cross for many years until her retirement, organizing their blood drives and helping military families.

Betty was an avid golfer and fierce competitor on the course. You could find her on the golf course several times a week, enjoying the company of friends in her golf league. She played bridge for many years and always enjoyed hosting bridge club at her home. You could find her manning the polls on election days. She participated in CDA activities at St. Bernard Church. Betty enjoyed life to the fullest and had many friends in many circles.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Jim, of 64 years, and their three children: Susan Kovalcik and husband, Frank, of Indiana; William Lukehart of Indiana, and Lori Lukehart of Pensacola, Florida. Grandchildren: Ramie (Jon) Miller, Jessica (Nick) Karas, and Daniel Mock. Five great grandchildren: Luka, Emmett, and Theran Miller, Angelina and Fiona Karas.

Betty is also survived by one sister, Janet (Herb) Sendek, and brother-in-law Richard (Nancy) Lukehart, and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their most heartfelt thanks to Betty’s caregiver, Angie, for her love and care for Betty, and endless support of our family this past year.

Arrangements are being handled by The Rairigh Bence Funeral Home in Indiana. There will be no visitation. Interment will be at St. Bernard’s Cemetery.
