Obituary for Francis "Beau" Beaujon
Beloved father, son, brother, uncle, educator, coach and friend passed away on December 20,
2023, away from home, but in the thoughts and hearts of all his family and friends.
Born October 8, 1969 in Johnstown, PA, Beau is the son of Francis W. and Charlotte
(Tarnowsky). Beau is survived by his parents; son Francis A.; sister Mary; brother Matt (Carolyn
Rovan); niece Cate Calissie; and his extended Lassen College family.
A man of dedication and heart, Beau was a standout athlete in both wrestling (where he
captained an undefeated team) and football (where he started as a two-way interior lineman at
125lbs) at Westmont Hilltop HS. In both sports and the classroom, Beau was the embodiment
of hard work and perseverance; traits he carried with him throughout his life. Beau continued
his education at West Virginia University where he graduated cum laude with a BA in Education.
Bringing his skills and passions back to Johnstown, Beau was a Physical Education teacher and
Head Football Coach at Ferndale Area HS. Beau is the last coach to guide the Ferndale Area
football team to back-to-back winning seasons. Although an exceptional football coach, Beau’s
true passion was on the wrestling mat, where he concurrently was Head Wrestling Coach at
Westmont Hilltop HS. Amassing 101 wins, Beau coached 5 state place winners, and was an
integral part in creating the culture of future successes within the Westmont Hilltop HS
wrestling program.
After a short stint as Event Coordinator at J. Robinson Intensive Camps (Minneapolis, MN),
Beau accepted a position as Assistant Wrestling Coach at Lassen College (Susanville, CA). He
quickly ascended to the role of Head Wrestling Coach and accepted a position within Lassen
College as Director of Residence Life. Beau guided the Cougars to many successes on and off the mat, coaching 10 Academic All Americans and developing many strong bonds with his extended family in the Susanville, CA area.
Throughout his coaching and professional career Beau was positive impact on everything and
everyone he touched. Outside of his coaching and professional life, Beau adored his son and
loved passing on his love of Pittsburgh pro sports and West Virginia University. Beau would
routinely cross the country with his son to attend sporting events that included Pittsburgh or
his beloved Mountaineers. Beau was also a passionate trout fisherman, who at one time or
another hooked into most of the trout species that exist within the USA.
Beau will be sorely missed by all for many of his traits and who he was, including his love of a
good prank (glass eye), his obscure Pittsburgh sports trivia, his unique laugh, his selflessness,
being a great son, an exceptional father, a belove brother and a loyal friend.
A gathering of Beau's family and friends will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 pm, Saturday, January 6, 2024 at the Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd., Johnstown. Burial will be held at a later date.
