Obituary for Geraldine V. Lammert Smalara (McCracken)
Geraldine Virginia (McCracken) Lammert Smalara, 82, of Indiana, died Thursday, April 4, 2019 at the Communities at Indian Haven, Indiana. Born February 24, 1937 in Clymer, she was a daughter of the late, Robert H. McCracken, Sr. and Myrtle (Shrum) McCracken. She was the widow of Joseph A. Smalara, Jr., who died January 8, 1978.
Geraldine was a graduate of the former Clymer High School. She worked for Season All Industries in Indiana for 30 years and later was the assistant manager at the D.E. Jones store in the Indiana Mall. She retired on February 24, 2002.
She was an avid gardener who planted both vegetable and floral gardens. She also liked to bake for her family and friends. In her spare time, Geraldine enjoyed watching her favorite television shows.
She is survived by her brother, Frank G. McCracken, Houston, TX and by many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by her son, Ronald R. Lammert who died October 12, 1975. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Myrtle Lowman, Robert H. McCracken, Jr., and William E. McCracken.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Sunday, April 7th at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana. Her funeral service will be held Monday morning at 11 AM at the funeral home. Pastor Michael Baun will officiate. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery.
