Obituary for Jane Trudell Abel (Repine)

Jane Trudell Repine Abel was born on January 29, 1933, in Starford, Pennsylvania. She went to be with the Lord on February 21, 2020, at Crystal Waters Personal Care Home surrounded by her children, in the town of Home, Pennsylvania at the age of 87 after a period of failing health.

Jane was the daughter of Blaine and Lelia Repine and the youngest of twelve wry and witty siblings. She was raised by Mina and Leroy Bee. After graduating from Green Township High School, she went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with certifications in Home Economics. In 1954, she married the love of her life, Harry Henry Abel of Decker’s Point, Pennsylvania, a graduate of Marion Center High School, and raised their two children. They lived for many years in Hamburg, New York where they regularly attended First Baptist Church of Hamburg. Jane headed the Home Economics department at Amsdell Junior High School where she instructed three generations of students before retiring. After retirement in 1985, she and Harry sold their home and car wash on Lake Street and moved to their farm property in Decker’s Point, Pennsylvania where they enjoyed observing wildlife and attending meetings with the Pennsylvania State Grange. In their later years, they moved to Indiana, Pennsylvania and attended the Independent Baptist Church of Blairsville. Throughout her lifetime, she empowered girls and women to reach their full potential through her prayers and encouraging words. Some of her childhood possessions may be viewed at the Historical and Genealogical Society of Indiana County, Pennsylvania.

Jane is survived by her daughter, Judy Townsend of Dayton Ohio, her son and daughter-in-law, Clair and Amee Abel of Keene, New Hampshire, and her grandson, Christopher Abel, also of Keene, New Hampshire. She was pre-deceased by her eleven other siblings. Her beloved Harry passed away in 2017.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Independent Baptist Church of Blairsville, Pennsylvania. She will be laid to rest at Oakland Cemetery, Indiana. The Abel Family is being assisted by the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana.
