Obituary for Marlene Phyllis Miller (Strong)

Marlene Phyllis (Strong) Miller, 77 of Commodore, PA, went to be with her husband and the Lord on Friday, October 30, 2009, at Delray Beach Medical Hospital in Florida.

A daughter of Clarence and Elizabeth (Butterworth) Strong, she was born on December 1, 1931, in Indiana, Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Miller was a 1947 graduate of Penns Manor High School. She worked for many years at R.E.A. in Indiana, PA and G.E. in Ohio. She married James W. Miller Sr. and moved to Shallerville, Ohio in 1976.

Marlene was a homemaker who loved watching the birds eating from her feeders, growing violets and being a crossword puzzle enthusiast.

A long-time member of Two Lick Baptist Church of Dixonville, Pastor Calvin Duvall and wife Joanne adopted Marlene as extended family and not just as a member. She will be missed by many and remembered and loved by all. We all can and should be happy…as we know she is.

Surviving are her brother, Russell Strong; stepchildren: Linda L. Miller; Jamie Miller Mungai; and James W. Miller Jr.; and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in rest by her parents; her brother, Ralph Strong; and her sister, Mary Ann Popson.

Friends will be received at the Bence Funeral Home in Clymer from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home with the Pastor Calvin Duvall officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Indiana.
