Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Hudak (Fletcher)

Mary Elizabeth (Fletcher) Hudak, 95, of Alverda, died Friday, April 15, 2016 at her home. Born in Clymer on November 9, 1920, she was a daughter of the late, John Fletcher and Mary Ann (Laveric) Hornor Fletcher. She married John Hudak in 1941. They were together forty-two years prior to his passing in 1983.

Mary graduated from the former Green Township High School in Commodore. Later, she worked at a vinyl record factory in Linden, NJ until her retirement in 1980.

She enjoyed playing Bingo and cheering for the Pirates and Steelers. She never missed a game. Mary also enjoyed being with her K-9 friend, Max, a little Scottie dog belonging to her niece, Nancy.

She is survived by her son, with whom she lived, John Fletcher Hudak. Other survivors include her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a niece, Nancy Marsh and her husband, Chuck who were “Special Caregivers”.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by the following siblings: Helen Johnston, Margaret Fletcher Hinton, Dorothy Fletcher Kiewlak, Edith Fletcher Kozenski, Ida Mae Fletcher Smyers, Leroy Fletcher, Donald Fletcher and infant brothers-Willis, Charles, John and James Fletcher.

Visitation will be Monday, April 18th from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Clymer, where her funeral service will be held Tuesday morning at eleven o’clock. VNA Hospice Chaplain, Tom Spiker will officiate. Burial will be in the McDowell Cemetery, Green Township, Indiana County.
