Obituary for Nancy Clawson (White)
Nancy (White) Clawson, 94, of Indiana, died Monday, May 11 2020 at St. Andrews Village in Indiana. The daughter of Abijah Benson White, Jr. and Roberta (Kyper) White, she was born November 21, 1925 in Punxsutawney.
She graduated from Punxsutawney High School in 1943. In 1947 she married Frederic J. Clawson, LCDR who retired from the Navy in 1965 relocating to Indiana. Nancy was a volunteer for the Indiana Regional Medical Center for more than 40 years and was chairperson of the Hospital Gift Shop from 1978 to 2010.
Nancy was a member of the Calvary Presbyterian Church in Indiana.
She is survived by her children: Richard A. Clawson and Debby, Indiana; Janet Clawson-Lagarde and William, Gaithersburg, MD; Beverly (Clawson) Peterson and Jeffrey, Orrtanna. Her grandchildren are: Andrew Clawson (Kelsey); Kevin Clawson (Rebecca); Emily (Clawson) Paterson (Michael); Colton Peterson (Karli); Bethany (Peterson) Martin (Jordan); Alycia (Lagarde) Wepasnick (Kevin); and Keith Lagarde (Tierany); and 10 great-grandchildren. Nancy will also be missed by her niece and nephews: Don White and Anne; David White and Mary; Steven White and Robin Colamarino and Arthur. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frederic J. Clawson; brother, Abijah Benson White III; sister-in-law, Norma White and two grandchildren, Nicholas James and Kelly Marie Peterson.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, service arrangements are private. Interment will be made at the Circle Hill Cemetery, Punxsutawney. Rev. David J. Hannah will officiate. Nancy’s family is being assisted by the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana. A webcast of her funeral will appear on the funeral home website, Thursday evening.
