Obituary for Robert Lee Bowman

Robert Lee Bowman “Bobo”, 93 of 75 West Church Street, Homer City, PA passed away on March 23, 2020. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on October 17, 1926. Bobo worked 45 years for Rochester & Pittsburgh Coal Co. as a surveyor and General Assistant mostly at Urling Mine. As a youth Robert was a paper boy for the Indiana Gazette. Later in life he served in the army during peace time from 1946 to 1947 and was honorably discharged. He was appointed Deputy Sheriff of Indiana County in March of 1968.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sophia of 68 years, having passed away December 3, 2016. His mother Rachel passed away April 10, 1982. Bobo was a wonderful husband and father. He was the oldest member of the First Christian Church of Indiana, PA. Robert was also a member of the American Legion, Indiana Coin Club Inc., Indiana Pool League. He enjoyed polkas, playing bingo and watching the Kansas City Chiefs. He loved cats and lottery tickets.

He is survived by his daughter Deborah Lee Henry and husband Paul Henry of Homer City, Robert Mark Bowman of Indiana and Scott Allen Bowman and his wife Aileen also of Indiana, two grandchildren Tammie Bryer and Stephanie Varner and her husband Josh both of Homer City, four great grandchildren; Laci, Leah, Adrionna and Noah.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic there will be no public viewing. Pastor Jack Lucas will hold a private ceremony for family only on Thursday. A memorial service for the public will be held at First Christian Church later in the year. Robert will be interred at Oakland Cemetery next his wife Sophia of 68 years.
