Obituary for Robert Lester Kline

Robert Lester Kline, 91, of Edinburg, passed away peacefully at UPMC Jameson in New Castle surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 31st, 2022. Born February 19th, 1931, in Sligo in Clarion County to the late Robert Stanley Kline and Mabel (Dixon) Kline. He married Donna (Clinger) Kline on September 20th, 1950, spending almost 72 loving years together.

Bob attended Clarion High School, then went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force from 1947 until 1950, where he was stationed in Alaska. After his military service, in 1954 he began work at Youngstown Sheet and Tube where he retired after thirty years. After retirement, he drove a school bus for Mohawk Area School District for ten years and was also a groundskeeper for the school.

There was never any food, a yard sale, or reclining chair that Bob didn’t like. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and an amazing storyteller. He liked watching golf on TV and observing all of the wild animals in his backyard; going to the casino with his wife, Donna; and spending time hunting and fishing when he could. He also really enjoyed being a taste-tester for all the baked goods made by his granddaughters, Megan and Taylor. Most importantly, Bob loved spending time with his family, especially every Sunday for countless years. He was a hard-working, selfless man, who would have done anything for anyone and he would always be the first person to call you on your birthday or just to see how you were doing. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife, Donna Kline, of Edinburg; Bob is survived by his daughters: Cindy McGowan, of Portersville; Linda Sue Gearhart, of Dubois; Kelly Fulcher (Clayton), Loganville, GA; Tracy Kline, of Edinburg; and Jodi Allison (James), of Edinburg. He will also be missed by his fifteen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sons, Robert Philip, Patrick James, and Jeffrey Allen Kline; son-in-law, James McGowan; and three brothers, Arnold, Merle and Edwin (Mert) and one sister, Orpha.

In accordance with Bob’s wishes, a funeral service with military honors will be private for his family. His final resting place will be Mt. Zion Cemetery in Clarion County. The Kline family is being assisted by Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home & Crematory of Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lawrence County Humane Society: 628 Pearson Mill Rd, New Castle, PA 16101.
