Obituary for Shirley Ann Bush (Barr)
Shirley Ann (Barr) Bush, 76, of Indiana, died Saturday, February 24, 2024, with her family by her side, at
Indiana Regional Medical Center. Born in Punxsutawney on March 21, 1947, she was a daughter of the
late Dean Reed Barr and Betty Jean (Black) Barr. She was married to Richard E. Bush, for 56 years.
Together they raised four children.
She was a graduate of Marion Center High School and later earned a degree in Consumer Affairs at IUP.
She had a strong Christian faith and actively served in her church communities. Her most rewarding
calling was that of a wife, mother and grandmother.
Shirley loved to travel and camp. She enjoyed sitting outside on her swing watching the wildlife and birds
Shirley deeply loved her family and was proud to have witnessed each of her four grandchildren graduate
high school.
In addition to her husband, Rich, Shirley is remembered by her children: Tracey (Eric) McEldowney ;
Richard E. (Malinda) Bush, Jr; Michael (Amanda) Bush and Robert Bush,. Her grandchildren are:
Matthew (Angela) and Benjamin McEldowney and Sarah and Mary Bush. She is also survived by
siblings: Ruth O’Hara, Kathy Gould, Jean Kowchuck and John Barr.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings: Gladys Smith and Charles Barr.
Friends will be received, Wednesday, February 28th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Rairigh-
Bence Funeral Home & Crematory of Indiana (965 Philadelphia Street). Her funeral service will be
Thursday, February 29th at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be held at the Grove Chapel
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a local animal shelter or food pantry of the donor's
choice.
