Obituary for Virginia Lee "Gingi" Merkel (Vickery)
Virginia Lee (Vickery) Merkel, 61, of Johnstown, died Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.
Born October 3, 1960, she was a daughter of Dorothy Ann (Roberts) Vickery and the late James M. Vickery.
She was a 1980 graduate of Johnstown High School. She later served in the United States Navy.
Gingi is survived by her mother; a daughter, Heather Merkel, at home; Sisters: Tina M. Vickery, of South Carolina, Michelle A. Bogus, of Wyoming and Helen L. Gettys (James), of Johnstown. Her former husband and Heather’s father, Steve Merkel, of North Dakota, also survives her. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews survive her as well.
She was preceded in death by her father and by both her maternal and paternal grandparents.
In accordance with Gingi’s wishes, there will be no service.
