Obituary for William L. McCracken

William L. “Bill” McCracken, 74 of Indiana, PA., passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana.

He was the son of Clair and Nellie (Helman) McCracken, born on April 27, 1939 in Rayne Twp., PA.

Bill was a graduate of Marion Center High School where he obtained the 8th grade Legion Award, was class vice-president and homeroom president. Bill worked at Park Press until 1966 and then owned Munshower Printing from 1966 until 2011. He served in the National Guard and was a former member of the Ben Franklin Lodge Provost Guard. He was also a member of the Indiana Co. Shrine Jaffa Mosque in Altoona, director of the Indiana Jaycees, and a member of the Indiana Elks.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Warr) McCracken; one son, Brent McCracken and wife Amy; one granddaughter, Meaghan all from Manassas, VA; his beloved dog Buster; five brothers and sisters; Elcy Fraily and husband Delbert of Shelocta, PA; Mayme Potter and husband Tony of Canada; Harry McCracken and wife Rose of OH; Rodney McCracken and wife Mary of Indiana, PA; Roger McCracken and wife Sheila of FL; and three sisters-in-laws; Janet McCracken, Lois McCracken and Joyce Kromer.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Elizabeth Ruffner, Margaret Nyland, Ruth Mitchell and Dorothy McCracken; and two brothers, Robert and Thomas McCracken.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery Chapel, Indiana, PA., officiated by Pastor Noah Clevenger, a close family friend. The Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home, Clymer is in charge of the arrangements.
