Obituary for Amos A. McGee

Amos A. McGee, 93, of Clymer died Sunday, October 26, 2014 at his home. He was recently widowed when his wife Virginia McGee died earlier this month.

He was born January 27, 1921 in Frostburg, Jefferson County to Charles C. McGee and Velma Anthony. He worked as a coal miner and farmer throughout his life. Amos served in the Army during WW II, in the Pacific theater.

Amos loved to garden and was an avid collector. He enjoyed mowing. He was a member of the Clymer American Legion, Post 222 and the U.M.W.A, local 1412.

He is survived by the following children: Virginia Kinter and her husband Ralph, of Aultman; Amos McGee, Jr. and his wife Susann, of Pine Flats; Andrea Rohrbach of Sinking Spring; and son-in-law, Paul Burkholtz of Heilwood. He is also survived by his sister, June Phipps of Orlando, FL and his brother Charles McGee of Aultman. Six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren survive him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife; one daughter, Kathryn Burkholtlz; one son, Kevin McGee; and two great-granddaughters.

Visitation will be held at Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Clymer on Friday, October 31, 2014 from 1-2PM, with a funeral service immediately following at 2PM. Pastor David McGee will officiate. Burial will follow at a later date in Hopewell Cemetery.
