Obituary for Benedict P. Miller Sr.

Benedict P.  Miller Sr.
Benedict P. Miller, Sr., 92, of rural Northern Cambria, passed away Monday. March 3, 2014 at his home in Pine Township. The son of Andrew and Mary (Shuder) Miller, he was born December 1, 1921 in Nanty Glo. On June 30, 1951 he married the love of his life, Grace Barbara Dumm, at St. Nicholas Church in Nicktown.

Ben was a former usher, lector and council member at St. Patrick’s Church at Camerons Bottom and a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Heilwood. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and recently great-grandfather. He enjoyed talking to anyone and everyone he met. He loved having the kitchen table always full and feeding whomever came along.

He worked in the coal mines for over 30 years while also running his family beef farm. Ben was a tireless worker who loved to talk about farming, coal mining and any current events.

Ben was a veteran of World War II having served in North Africa and Europe.

He is survived by his children: Antoinette Beilchick & husband, Ron, Heilwood; Ben Miller, Jr. & wife, Lee Ann, Indiana; Anthony Miller & wife, Mary, Northern Cambria; David Miller & wife, Mary Ann, Indiana; Grace Mihoerck & husband, Paul, Northern Cambria; Joseph Miller & wife, Julie, Northern Cambria; and Larry Miller & wife, Maylene, Clymer. Ben is also survived by his grandchildren: Michael Miller; Tony Miller; Paul Mihoerck; Matt Miller; Nick Miller; Adam Miller; Nathan Miller; David Miller, Jr.; Ben Miller; Grace Ann Shellenbarger; Mary Douglas; Katy Miller; Amy Williams; Elizabeth Miller; Amanda Miller; Tori Miller and Tara Miller. His Great Grandchildren are: Isabella Douglas, Andrew and Aaron Miller and Lilly Miller.

He is also survived by three sisters: Theresa Dumm, Nicktown; Rita Yahner & husband, Jerry, Patton , and Julie Horvath & husband, Andy, Crescent, PA.

In addition to his parents and his loving wife, Grace who died November 21, 2011, he was preceded in death by brothers: Andy and Bill.

Friends will be received Thursday, March 6th from 3-9 PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Clymer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM, Friday, March 7th at the Church of the Resurrection, Heilwood. Rev. Fr. George Saletrik, Celebrant. Interment with military honors will be made in St. Patrick’s Cemetery at Camerons Bottom.
