Obituary for Bonnie Kay Higgins (Pennington)

Bonnie (Pennington) Higgins, 71, of Indiana, formerly of Glen Campbell, died Wednesday, December 30th , 2015 at Indiana Regional Medical Center.

Born May 6, 1944 in Glen Campbell, she was the daughter of the late Robert L. and Mary Mae (Ellsmore) Pennington. Bonnie was the widow of Donald G. Higgins, who died in 1993.

Bonnie was a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked for a time at Magnolia Living Center in Iuka, MS. She was also the former owner of Bonnie’s Diner, Clymer. She attended Glen Campbell Baptist Church where she sang in the church choir and was an active member in her younger years. She was a member of the Glen Campbell Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and volunteered for the American Red Cross, Punxsutawney Hospital and Indiana Hospital. Bonnie was also a social member of the VFW of Northern Cambria. She was an avid Bingo player and loved crafting.

Bonnie is survived by her children: Tina Young of Rochester Mills; Donald Higgins, Jr. and Ana, of Pittsburg, CA; Cindy Capasso and Chris of New Cumberland; Robert A. Higgins, of Indiana; and Brian Higgins and Vincenza of Indiana. She is also survived by her brothers: Carlton “Babe” Pennington, of Albuquerque, NM; Larry Pennington, of Rossiter; and, Vaughn Pennington, of Glen Campbell. Eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her brother, Donald Pennington.

Friends will be received Sunday, January 3rd, 2016 from 5-8 at Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana. Her funeral service will be held at the funeral home Monday, January 4th at 10AM with The Right Reverend Dr. Allan N. Campbell, Bishop of St. Andrew. Burial will be at the Burnside Cemetery.
