Cathryn LaRue Moore Stevens, 97
died Wednesday , February 19, 2014, at
The Communities of Indian Haven,
Indiana , PA
A daughter of Charles Clifford Moore and
Viola Mae Frontz Moore, she was born
February 16, 1917, in Lockvale , PA
Cathryn married the late Otto C. Stevens
on October 10, 1936. Together they lived
and raised five children in Lucernemines,
PA and were both active members of the
Church of the Nazarene in Homer City, PA.
After the passing of her husband in 1983,
Cathryn moved to Indiana , PA and lived
with her Daughter and Son in law,
Bonnie and Gary Violi .
Cathryn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother
and great grandmother. She was a very special
lady, always caring, giving and praying for the needs
of others. She was a living example of someone
who understood the true word of God. She was
known for the love of sewing quilts and pillows,
not only for her family, but for the" hundreds"
that she donated to local churches and organizations .
She is survived by a son Fred,(Anita) Stevens,
Clarksburg, PA and 4 daughters: Freda Huggins,
Chillicothe, OH, Shirley (Richard)Thornton,
Clymer, PA, Ruth King, Indiana, PA, Bonnie (Gary)
Violi , Indiana, PA . 16 grandchildren: Joyce (Ken)
Strittmatter, Edward (Kelly) Stevens, Deb (Steve)
McKay, David (Rachel) Huggins, Steve(Melissa)
Huggins, Connie (Kevin) Berringer, Tom (Stacie)
Thornton, Barb Thornton, Donna (Kyle) Mosley,
Bill (Julie) King, Chris (Snow)King, Mark King, Matt King,
Jennifer(Jermaine) Violi -Campbell, Alison Violi,
Michael Violi, 18 great grandchildren: two
brothers : Arlington Moore, Homer City, PA and
Norman Moore, South Carolina , two sisters:
Dorothy Lallement, Elwood City, PA and Elizabeth
McCabe, Lowellsville, OH.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,
Otto C. Stevens , brothers : Clifford , William, Melvin, and Clarence Moore,
sisters: Virginia Moore (infant) and Lillian Moore James.
Extended Family will be received from 11am to 1pm at the Rairigh-Bence
Funeral Home, Indiana, PA Saturday. Funeral services with Reverend
Charles Williamson immediately following. Memorial contributions
may be made to The Communities at Indiana Haven, 1675
