Obituary for Earl C. Buterbaugh

Earl C.  Buterbaugh
Earl C. Buterbaugh, 73 of Clymer, PA., passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at his home.

He was the son of Robert and Twila (Marsh) Buterbaugh, born on September 10, 1941 in Indiana, PA.

Earl fought a long, courageous battle with emphysema. He was able to keep a sense of humor and liked talking to everyone on many and varied subjects.

He was a member of the Church of the Resurrection, Clymer. Earl worked at National Mine Service Co. for 23 years as a service representative. He was a born mechanic and on his job he traveled extensively, including Sicily. Earl started working at Penelec in 1988, retiring form Reliant Energy in 2005. He was an assistant Scout Master and member of the Indiana Mason Lodge 313. Earl used to hunt and fish and always has a heart for animals, especially the many dogs he had.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Christine “Tina” (Boston) of Clymer; two sons, Jeffrey E. of White Oak, PA and Steven of Clymer, PA; two granddaughters, one grandson. He is survived by his beloved dogs, Patches and Spice. One sister, Patty Adams and husband Bill; one brother, Dean Buterbaugh and wife Cindy; sister-in-law, Nancy Williard and husband Bob; and several aunts, nieces and nephews.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lois Foster and brother-in-law, Richard Foster; step grandson and an infant grandson.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home, Clymer. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Resurrection, Clymer with Rev. Timothy Kruthaupt as celebrant. Interment will be in the Church of the Resurrection Cemetery, Clymer.

Special appreciation goes to Carolyn, his cheerful caregiver, and several special friends who visited frequently, prayed, encouraged, and helped in so many ways. Also special thanks to VNA Hospice staff for their dedication, amazing care and love.
