Obituary for Edward Mabon McCreery

Edward Mabon  McCreery
Edward Mabon McCreery, 75, of Indiana, unexpectedly died Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center.

Born June 17, 1941 in Fairfield Township, Westmoreland County, he was the son of the late John Mabon McCreery and Beulah Grace (Campbell) McCreery.

He was a 1959 graduate of Laurel Valley High School. Ed became a well-known locksmith in the Indiana area. He worked at IUP for 28 years as a carpenter/locksmith while also owning and operating A-Lock and Key for 41 years. He was a member of a carpenters union for most of his working career.

Ed enjoyed working on and restoring his 1931 Model A Ford antique car with his son, Justin. He also liked woodworking and keeping busy with his business. He was the proud recipient of The Leonard Singer - Locksmith Ledger Award. Most of all he enjoyed the time he had with his granddaughters, son and daughter – in – law.

He attended the Christian Missionary Alliance Church of Indiana and was a member of the Model A Ford Club of America (MAFCA).

Ed is survived by his son, Justin Patterson and wife, Lynnette, Bellefonte; Granddaughters, Hannah, Reese and Quinn Patterson, all of Bellefonte and his sister, Nancy Spoon, Knoxville, TN. He is also survived by his dear friends Betty Zele and Ron Moreau.

Visitation will be held at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home, Clymer on Friday October 14 from 7PM-9PM and on Saturday from 2PM-4PM. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 4PM. Burial will be held at a later date at the Pine Vale Cemetery, Deckers Point.
