Obituary for Ethel B Badiali (Henry)

Ethel B. Badiali, 92, of Indiana, PA., passed away on Friday, October 3, 2014 at St. Andrew Village, Indiana.

She was the daughter of Harmon Merle and Erma Belle (Giles) Henry, born on August 4, 1922 in Heilwood, PA.

Ethel graduated with a B.S. in Social Studies and Geography from Indiana State Teacher’s College (now I.U.P.) she earned a Master’s degree in Political Science and Economics from I.U.P. Additional schooling included; University of Hawaii, Asian Studies; Rutger’s University, Latin America; Springfield College in MA., African Studies; Glassboro College (now Rowan College) in NJ, Middle East Studies.

She taught school in Arnold, Avonmore and Punxsutawney. The Last thirty years of her teaching career were spent in Hadden Heights, NJ., where she served as head of the Social Studies Department.

Ethel retired to Indiana in 1981 where she continued to be active in community. She served in the Big Brother-Big Sister Program as treasurer; New Century Club, where she held offices of Vice President, Historian and Treasurer, she served on the Library Board. Ethel is a member of the Evergreen Garden Club and the Indiana Historical Society. She is a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder and was a Circle Leader.

She is survived by Sisters, Jean Williams and Mary Lou Stake of Indiana; and sister-in-laws, Margaret Henry of Kent, OH., and Laura Henry of Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John A. Badiali, brothers, Joseph, Fred, Richard and Jack; Sisters, Marie Fiola, Lois Pesci and Jane Dole.

A Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 6, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Calvary Presbyterian Church, Indiana. Interment will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery. The Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home, Indiana is handling the arrangements.
