Obituary for Eunice Bence (Helman)

Eunice Bence, 85, of Clymer, died Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Communities at Indian Haven. She was the widow of Carl P. “Gid” Bence, who died in 1998. They had been married just shy of 50 years.

The daughter of Vay and Martha (Steele) Helman, she was born October 18, 1929 in Clymer.

She was a lifelong resident of Clymer and graduated from Clymer High School. She was co-owner of Bence’s furniture store “Clymer Furniture” and operated the business with her son Mike.

She is survived by her son, Edward “Mike” Bence and his wife Christine and her daughter-in-law Jean Bence, all of Clymer. Her sister Doris Tomb of Indiana also survives her. Eunice will be remembered by her grandchildren Christie, Shane, Caitlyn and Angie and by her great-grandchildren Nathan, Tyler, and Marley.

Eunice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gid; her son Carl “Patrick” Bence, January 14, 2014 and by the following siblings: Olive Frantz, Twila Houck, Carl Helman, Harold Helman and Robert Helman.

Visitation will be held at Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Clymer on Thursday, October 30th from 2-4 and 6-8. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Church of the Resurrection in Clymer at 10AM, Friday, October 31, 2014. Father George Saletrik will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in Church of the Resurrection cemetery in Clymer.
