Obituary for G. David "Clyde" Schelfe

G. David (Clyde) Schelfe, 90 of Pine Flats and formerly long time resident of Clymer, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at St. Andrews Village, Indiana.

He was the son of David and Rosa (Calza) Schelfe, born on January 12, 1924 in Marsteller, PA.

Clyde served in the U.S. Army Aircorps as a Fighter Pilot during WWII. He endured time as a Prisoner of War and was also the recipient of the Purple Heart Commendation.

He was engaged in various small businesses throughout his life and also enjoyed flying, hunting, fishing and raising horses. Clyde was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

Clyde is survived by his daughter Susann McGee and husband Amos; two grandsons, David and wife Gail and Anthony; three great-grandchildren, Molly, Sami, and Randall; one sister, Gloria Lee of Vermont.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Oakes Schelfe and one sister, Erma Hancharik.

Services will be private. The Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home, Clymer has been entrusted in handling the arrangements.
