Obituary for George Pappal

George  Pappal
George Pappal (Popel), 86, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Northgate Manor in North Tonawanda, NY. Born in Bakerton, PA he was the son of the late Stephen and Anastasia (Najda) Pappal.

George was raised and educated in Pennsylvania, and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On July 25, 1953 he married Kathryn A. (Simko) Pappal in Dixonville, PA and shortly after they moved to the Niagara Falls, NY area where he has lived until the present time. Mrs. Pappal predeceased him on March 11, 2008. George was employed for over thirty years as a crane operator at the Union Carbide Corp. National Plant in Niagara Falls, NY until his retirement in 1984. He was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge in Dixonville, PA. George was also an avid golfer, and enjoyed woodworking in his spare time.

George is survived by his two children, Nancy A. (Bryan) McKinley of Conesus, NY and Andrew P. (Belinda) Pappal of Niagara Falls, NY and was predeceased by two sons, Infant Richard A. Pappal and Baby Boy Pappal. George is also survived by one grandson Christopher Pappal, two brothers, John Pappal of Indiana, PA and Metro Pappal of Lewiston, NY as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by four brothers, Andrew Pappal, Frank Pappal, Mike Pappal, Charles Pappal and one sister Mary Kostryk.

Visitation will be from 6 – 9 PM Monday, August 11th at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM Tuesday morning at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Indiana.
