Obituary for George Rebovich

George “Pap” Rebovich, 89 years old, entered into eternal peace on November 30, 2015, surrounded in love by his family.

He was born on June 6, 1926 in Homer City and attended Homer City School. A veteran of World War II he was a light machine gunner attaining the rank of Private First Class.. Through the years, he was employed by Nester Peles Coal Mines, served as a police officer and fireman in Clymer. He retired from R&P Coal Company in 1989 after many years of employment there. He was proud to be a founding member of St. Anne’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Clymer.

On August 12, 1950 he married his beloved wife, Helen Federinko-Rebovich and raised his family and resided in Clymer, Pennsylvania.

“Pap” will be especially remembered for sincere loyalty to his family; always remaining a solid rock, with a soft heart to each of those who were blessed to have his love. He cherished moments to share stories of his life experiences with his children, grand-children and great-grandchildren. He was an avid hunter and sportsman; thoroughly enjoying time outdoors with family and teaching his skills to others. Pap held great pride in taking care of his family; this was a priority to him and it showed when any of them walked into his home.

He is survived by his children: Gregory Rebovich, his wife, Patricia (Miks), Strongstown, Thomas Rebovich and wife Jayne (Yamrick) Rebovich, Clymer and Nadine and husband, Doug Rodgers, Northern Cambria. His Grandchildren, Kathryn Suzanne Rebovich-Postek, Collegeville, Karen Rebovich, Indiana, Kristyn Marie Rebovich-Smith and husband, Jimmy, Clymer, Gwyn Rebovich-Genua and husband, Jon, Mt. Airy, Maryland, his only grandson, T.J. Rebovich and wife Melissa, Commodore, and Korey L. Rodgers, Northern Cambria. As well as the happiness in his heart, his great-grandchildren: Karlie Jayne Postek, Kassidy Renee Smith, Camryn Suzanne Postek, Carter James Smith, Stephen Thomas Postek, Dylan John Rebovich, Braden Todd Rebovich and Easton James/Stephen Smith, Cole, Owen and Lincoln Genua. His sisters, Lillian Rebovich, Indiana, and Helen Rebovich-Saverine, New Jersey. Brother Paul Rebovich, Homer City, along with numerous nieces and nephews. George’s dear sister in law: Priscilla (Federinko) and husband Jim Bergstedt of Lansing, Illinois; his sister-in-law Mary Jane Federinko-Kopcyzyk, Detroit, Michigan

“Pap” was preceded in death by his parents John and Susan Tisak-Rebovich, his loving wife of 60 years, Helen (Baba) his brothers: Eddy, Steve, Nick, John, Mike, Joe; sisters: Mary Rebovich-Yanity, Anna Rebovich-Jakub and great-granddaughter, Grace Rebovich.

Services will be held at Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home, Franklin Street, Clymer, Pennsylvania on Thursday, December 3, 2015 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm; with a Memorial service set at 3pm. Funeral services will be offered Friday, December 4, 2015 at 10am, at St. Anne’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Franklin Street, Clymer.
