Gerald L. “Jerry” Blair, 68, of Indiana, died Monday, June 17, 2013 at the Beacon Ridge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Indiana. Born in Spangler, PA on September 2, 1944, he was a son of the late Reverend Clyde Austin Blair and Erma Lucille (Moore) Blair.

He married the former Ruth E. Lindesmith on January 24, 1964. Together they raised three children, Brian, Wesley and Tammie.

Jerry graduated from Garfield High School, Akron OH. He received a Bachelor of Missions at Kansas City College and Bible School in 1965. In 2007 he received a Certificate of Pastoral Ministry at Seton Hill College. He also attended the Diocesan Diaconate Program at St. Vincent College.

For twenty-four years he was the executive director of Indigo, the Indiana County Transit Authority. He retired from that position in 2009. Previously he worked as both a national and local truck driver. In the mid 1980’s he was a member of the Board of Education at the Purchase Line School District.

Jerry was a very gracious man who was soft spoken, yet very direct. He had a wonderful dry sense of humor that his family and friends will dearly miss. He truly had a kind and loving heart.

He liked to golf and was an overall sports enthusiast. While he enjoyed following the Steelers and Pirates, Jerry was a fan of most sports. He was a supportive and active parent when his children participated in sporting events when they were young.

Socially, Jerry was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Indiana Kiwanis Club.

He was an active member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church in Indiana.

In addition to his wife, Ruth, he is survived by his three children: Brian Blair and wife, Cindy, Owensboro, KY; Wesley Blair and wife, Courtney, San Leandro, CA and Tammie Blair, Washington, DC.
