Obituary for Gifford P. Rising

Gifford P. Rising, 84 of Clymer, PA., passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Indiana Regional Medical Center.

He was the son of James G. and Elizabeth (Nicewonger) Rising, born on August 9, 1930 in Cherryhill, Twp.

Gifford loved the outdoors, hunting, working in his yard and mowing grass and he loved his dogs. He was the caretaker of the sample Run Cemetery for more than 55 years. Gifford was a member of the Bible Baptist Church, Clymer, the Clymer Moose, a Social member of the Indiana VFW and the Clymer American Legion. He was a former employee of AF Moreau & Sons and retired from Labor Union 1058, IA Construction.

He is survived by four children, William J. Rising and wife Wanda of Indiana; Harry George Rising and wife MaryAnn of Clymer; Gloria J. Frank and husband Eddie of Indiana; Linda M. Smyers of Indiana; seven grandchildren, William M. Rising; Jamie Rising; Adam Rising; Doug Rising; Jennifer Musser; Eddie Frank III; Ethan Coover; eight great-grandchildren, Madison Musser; Camden Rising; Ceyara Jarvie; Alexandria Rising; Brayden Rising; Nolen Rising; Cooper Lee Frank; Eva Mae Musser; two step grandchildren, Shawn and Joshua Shaffer; two step great- grandchildren, Gaven Palko and Isabella Musser.

Gifford was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lucy M. (Pennington) Rising and siblings, Mary Rising; Pauline Hueonisca; Mildred Rising; Clara Smith; Betty Taylor; James Edward Rising; Harry Rising and Agnes McQuiston.

Friend will be received on Sunday, August 17, 2014 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home, Clymer. His funeral service will be on Monday, at 10 a.m. at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home with Pastor James McCaulley, officiant. Interment will be in the Sample Run Cemetery.
