Obituary for H. Jean Bartlebaugh (Rowe)

H. Jean Bartlebaugh (Rowe)
It is said that death is the beginning of Eternity. The afternoon of Monday, November 4th, the soul of H. Jean Bartlebaugh, 91, of Indiana, (formerly of Homer City & Home, PA), was lifted by God’s Angels from her room at St. Andrews Village to her God-prepared eternal home in Heaven. There she was reunited with her father Walter C. Rowe, Mother Ethel Gaye (Weaver) Rowe-Marshall-George, Brothers Cecil, Moe, and Bill Rowe - and many other relatives and friends who preceded her arrival.

Born in Indiana, PA on September 13, 1922, Jean was a graduate of Indiana High School. She retired in 1983 from the Indiana office of the Department of Public Welfare after serving that agency for thirty-one years in various capacities. Jean’s post-retirement time was spent traveling to Alaska, Hawaii, and Mexico along with many other destinations within the United States. When at home, she enjoyed reading and gathering at different times with family and friends for a fun game of cards - especially bridge. Her legacies are many but perhaps the most memorable are the heaping full dish of mashed potatoes at family gatherings, her infamous chocolate chip cookies, and the special cookies that she would bake specifically for the family dogs.

Jean is survived by her son, Ronald J. Bartlebaugh and wife Patricia of North Canton, Ohio, grandson Mark Bartlebaugh and wife Yvonne, their daughters Hannah and Eliana, all of Wheaton, IL, and Brother Robert W. Marshall and wife Isabelle of Greenville, S.C. She is also survived by eight nephews, Bill, Tom, Rick, and Tim Marshall, Mike and Chris Rowe, Chuck Rowe, and Bob Rowe. Also by five nieces, Ilene Campbell, Janet Fuchs, Janice Verk, Susan Kollar, and Georgia (GG) Schroth - and by cousins Jim and Clair (Mac) McCurdy and Norma Jean Langdon.

Please plan to share your memories of Jean with her family and friends beginning at 10 A.M. on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home in Indiana The funeral service will begin at 12 noon when good friends Randy and Becky Bourque will apply the Word of God and His gift of music to honor Jean and the blessing of God on her life. Interment will follow immediately thereafter at the Oakland Cemetery.

The Bartlebaugh family deeply appreciates the excellent quality of loving care that Jean received over recent years from the Visiting Nurse Association of Indiana, Crystal Waters Personal Care Home, St. Andrews Village, Indiana Regional Medical Center, and Magee-Womens Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jean can be directed to either the VNA, the Trinity United Methodist Church memorial fund, the renovation fund at St. Andrews Village, or to the church, charity, or other organization of your choice.
