Obituary for Harold B. Cunningham

Harold B.  Cunningham
Harold B. Cunningham, 91, of Indiana, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at the Crystal Waters Personal Care Home, Indiana. Born in Hastings, PA on March 21, 1924, he was a son of the late Gordon W. Cunningham and Mary Frances (Nagle) Cunningham.

Mr. C. was a 1942 graduate of Indiana High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps for 35 years having served during World War II and the Korean War. He retired as a Sergeant Major.

He was an Indiana Borough Police Officer for 10 years before he became Superintendent of the Western PA Water Company, Pittsburgh.

He was a life member of the Indiana VFW Post 1989. He also belonged to the American Legion and was a WEBLO’s leader with the CUB Scouts.

Harold was an active member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Margaret “Peggy” (Graziano) Cunningham whom he married, August 20, 1949. Their 4 children are: Tom and his wife, Jill; Patty Holmes and husband, Russ; Brenda Vinton and husband, Dave; and Steve and his wife, Jolie. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 sisters and 2 brothers.

Friends will be received Friday, October 9th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana where the Knights of Columbus will recite the Rosary at 7:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning at 11 AM at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church.

Military rites will be provided the U.S. Marine Honor Guard.
