Obituary for Irene Kuzemchak (Kochman)
Irene (Kochman) Kuzemchak, 89, of Indiana, formerly of Clymer, died Monday, March 31, 2014 at Indiana Regional Medical Center. Born in Clymer on November 28, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Kochman and Rose (Renskoski) Kochman.
A 1942 graduate of Clymer High School, Irene was a former housekeeping supervisor at IUP responsible for Cogswell, Sprowls and Davis Halls. Earlier in her career, she was a buyer for the former Troutman’s Department Store in Downtown Indiana.
She was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, Homer City, and a former member of St. Michael Orthodox Greek Catholic Church of Clymer. Irene was a woman of great faith who regularly attended church and was active in many church functions. She volunteered at Indiana Regional Medical Center where she sold newspaper and other novelty items to visitors and patients. She was an avid bingo player who also liked to play cards with her friends. Irene loved to be outside gardening, enjoyed canning and cooking, and especially enjoyed spending time at her farm near Penn Run. More than anything, she adored her family, especially her grandchildren and great granddaughter.
On September 7, 1947 she married James Joseph Kuzemchak, her husband of 66 years who resides in Indiana. Irene is also survived by her two children: George Kuzemchak & his companion, Roxanne Bender, Fallentimber, PA and Rosemary Krolick & husband, Joe Krolick, Jr., Indiana. Her surviving grandchildren are: Stacy Kuzemchak & husband, Willi Estrella, Indiana; Greg Kuzemchak, Indiana; John Kuzemchak & wife, Kristen, Wilmington, NC and great granddaughter, Peyton Kuzemchak, Wilmington, NC. She will also be remembered by her sister, Dorothy Holuta & husband, Michael, formerly of Clymer and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Ellen Wanchisn; Mary Elizabeth Bunyak; Joe, Steve, George and Paul Kochman.
Friends will be received Wednesday evening, April 2nd, from 5 to 8 PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home, Clymer. A Panachida Service will begin at 7 PM at the funeral home. Her funeral service will be celebrated Thursday morning at 10:30 AM at St. Michael Orthodox Greek Catholic Church, Clymer with The Very Rev. Matthew Conjelko. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery, Clymer.
