Obituary for Janet Frances Kruthaupt (Felkamp)

Janet Kruthaupt beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed over to the Lord on January 18, 2014. Janet was born Janet Frances Felkamp on December 11, 1920 in Cincinnati, Ohio one of eight children of Edward and Lillian. In 1943, at the height of WWII she joined the US Coast Guard’s women service, the “Spars”, serving in the Philadelphia area. On January 1, 1944 she met her future husband Frank Kruthaupt whom she married on February 19, 1944 prior to his return to sea. Following marriage Janet left the Spars to begin her life as mother and home maker.

Mrs. Barbara Jade Leard, husband Thomas (Carefree, AZ) was born in July of 45, Gregory Francis wife Patricia (Gunnison, CO) was born in August of 46, Mary Lynn Hunt, husband Terrence (Denver, CO) was born in July of 47, Elizabeth Arlene Degenhart husband John (deceased) (Cincinnati, OH) was born in May of 48 and finally Timothy Joseph (Heilwood, PA) in 1952. Janet worked as a homemaker and mother raising her children, regularly volunteering at her church and St Clair Convent. As the children progressed through school Janet began working in retail sales in local department stores.

Following the marriage of her children throughout the early 1970’s Janet devoted herself to her 15 grandchildren. In 1982 following the retirement of Frank they moved to the Naples, FL area where they lived until Frank’s death in 1997, traveling routinely to visit their children and grandchildren throughout the country. In 1999 Janet moved to Denver, CO to reside close to her children. Janet loved spending her time with her 21 great grandchildren who visited her often. She remained in Denver until advanced age and physical limitations prompted her to join her son Fr. Tim, priest for the Church of the Resurrection, at his rectory in Heilwood, PA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Janet on January 24 at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Naples, Fl. She will be interred in the parish Memorial Garden with her beloved husband Frank. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Greensburg, 711 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601.
