Obituary for John James Kubalek Jr.

John James  Kubalek Jr.
John James Kubalek, Jr., 63 of Clymer lost his courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, February 4, 2014. He was surrounded by his loving family in his home.

Formerly of Dixonville, John was born on April 3, 1950 to the late John James Kubalek, Sr. and Mary Eileen Scaife Kubalek. He was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Clymer.

John is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, soulmate, and best friend, Nancy Lu Lowry Kubalek. John and his wife Nancy were blessed with four wonderful and successful children. Natalie Stearns, and her husband Jason of Meadville. Jacqueline Russell, and her husband Douglas of Indiana. John, and his wife Annette of Indiana. Jeffrey, and is fiancée Lisa Gens of Patton. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Chase and Kendall Russell. Additionally, he is survived by his mother, Mary Eileen Scaife Kubalek, of Clymer. Also, his sister Debra DelBrocco, and her husband Joe of Altoona and his two nieces Heather and Hollie, and three great nephews.

John was a 1968 graduate of Penns Manor Area High School. He was a member of the United Rubber Workers Union and AFSCME union as well. He was employed at McCreary Tire and Rubber for 16 years. Later, he was employed as a member of the custodial staff at Penns Manor School District, and retired in that same occupation from Indiana University of PA in 2012. John was always a hard worker and had many skills and talents. He was a member of the Dixonville Moose Lodge #883 for 36 years and was also a member of the Clymer Slovak Club.

John and his family were comforted in this difficult time by the Home Nursing Agency Hospice. They are especially grateful to have had Peggy, Rita, Donna, and Amanda who touched their lives and gave warm, dignified care to John during his illness.

John’s pride and joy was his family and attended activities of his children. He particularly loved being in the pits when his sons drag raced at Pittsburgh Raceway Park. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. His family fondly remembers his love for Oldies music, classic cars, good stories, and George Carlin, his gardening skills, and his always pristine, freshly waxed vehicles.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 5, 2014 from 3-7pm. at Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home in Clymer. His funeral service will follow at 7:00pm with Reverend Robert White officiating. Honoring John’s requests, interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
