Obituary for John Gilbert "Gib" Siverd

John Gilbert "Gib"  Siverd
John Gilbert “Gib” Siverd, 88 of Commodore, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 14, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family. The son of John and Dulcie Grace (Burnheimer) Siverd, he was born January 7, 1927 in Commodore.

John was a graduate of the former Green Township “Commodore” High School. He was employed in the coal stripping business for many years. Later, he and his brother, Budd, owned and operated Siverd Brothers Coal Company. After retiring he enjoyed being with his family and spending time outdoors shearing and mowing Christmas trees on the family tree farm.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Arlene (Getty) Siverd, whom he married May 29, 1964. He is also survived by: son, Dennis and wife, Diane (Hood) Siverd, Commodore; two grandsons, John and Justin Siverd; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Wayne and Budd, and sisters, Marvel, Meredith and Eunice.

Friends will be received Wednesday afternoon from Noon until 2PM, the time of his funeral service, at the Diamondville United Methodist Church. Rev. Sharon Waltenbaugh will officiate. Private Interment will be made at the Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.

Memorial donations may be made to the Diamondville United Methodist Church, c/o the Siverd Family, 1336 Fir Road, Commodore, PA 15729.

The Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Clymer is assisting the Siverd Family with the service arrangements.
