Obituary for Lloyd B. "Murph" Murphy

Lloyd B. Murphy “Murph”, 72, of Commodore, PA., passed away on February 3, 2014 at Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was born on December 23, 1941 in Green Township, Indiana County, PA., youngest child of Paul and Dorothy (Rager) Murphy.

Murph graduated from Purchase Line High School in 1959. He attended DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago for radio and TV repair. In 1960 he married his high school sweetheart, Betty Jane Klamar. They were married for 53 years. They raised two daughters, Colleen and Suzanne.

Over the years Murph had several full time jobs. He worked as a repairman at Hawks TV in Indiana, Robertshaw Controls in Indiana, Greenwich Collieries South Mine and he later retired from the State, where he worked as a carpenter for the Liquor Control Board. He also did carpentry work part time and built several houses.

Murph loved history and travel, spending many vacations in Maine. He and Betty also traveled to France, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Russia, the Czech Republic, England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Sweden and Canada. He also accompanied his daughters to Mexico.

He enjoyed breakfast out with his friends from high school and the liquor store.

Murph always said to Betty Jane if either one of us die tomorrow we had a good life. He will be truly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jane (Klamar) Murphy; two daughters, Colleen and Suzanne; brother, Samuel and wife Carol; two sisters, Betty Berglund and Janet Neal; sister-in-laws, Helen Murphy and Peggy Federinko and husband Eugene; brother-in-law, John Klamar; and numerous nieces and nephews, friends and beloved pets Tucker and Annie.

Murph was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers: James, William and Paul Murphy. He was also preceded by his ; sisters-in-law, Billie and Beulah Murphy, brothers-in-law, Tip Neal and Hank Berglund, his mother-in-law and father-in-law; Albert and Elsie (Hudak) Klamar; and a sister-in-law, Penny Klamar.

All funeral arrangements will be private.
