Obituary for M. "Eileen" Kubalek (Scaife)

M. "Eileen"  Kubalek (Scaife)
Mary Eileen (Scaife) Kubalek, 91, passed away peacefully at Rustic Manor Personal Care Home on Wednesday, June 15, 2016. She was surrounded by her family.

She was born, June 11, 1925 in Johnstown, however she was a resident of Clymer and Dixonville. The eldest of six children, Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, Geraldine (Wherry) Scaife and Harold Scaife; four brothers, Harold, Ralph, James and Albert Scaife; by her loving husband, whom she married October 7, 1949, John Kubalek, Sr. who died in 1993; and her son, John Kubalek, Jr. in 2014.

Eileen is survived by her daughter, Debra DelBrocco and her husband, Joe of Altoona; a brother, Weldon Scaife of Cleveland and a daughter-in-law, Nancy Kubalek of Clymer. Eileen is also survived by 6 grandchildren and their spouses: Heather (Dan), Hollie (Adam), Natalie (Jason), Jacqueline (Doug), John (Annette) and Jeffrey (Lisa). She also has 6 great grandchildren: Avery, Dawson, Mitchell, Chase, Kendall and Parker, as well as and several nieces and nephews.

Eileen was a longtime member of the Clymer Christian Missionary Alliance Church and was one of its oldest and most devoted parishioners. She worked many years at the church’s summer VBS program, and was known as the “cookie lady” along with her dear friend, Ann Janosko.

Before she was married, she worked to make bullets and bombs in an ammunition factory during the second world war while many of her brothers were away serving their country. Eileen worked as a daycare cook in Clymer and Indiana for many years. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 1:00 to 5:00 PM Saturday, June 18th at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Clymer , where her funeral service will begin at five o’clock Saturday at the funeral home. VNA Hospice Chaplain, Tom Spiker will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date at the Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.
