Obituary for Margaret C. "Peggy" Boyer

Margaret C. “Peggy” Boyer, 95, of Indiana, formerly of Roxbury in Somerset County, passed away June 18, 2015 at Communities at Indian Haven.

The daughter of Howard W. and Clara (Stoecker) Campbell, she was born on January 2, 1920 in Penn Hills, PA.

Margaret was a 1938 graduate of Wilkinsburg High School and prior to her marriage was employed by Union Switch and Signal in Swissvale. She was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Roxbury and had been a member of the choir. She loved music and working counted-cross-stitch projects. She enjoyed traveling, having been to Europe, Hawaii, New England and to mid-Atlantic and southern states. Margaret was a faithful fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Meshanko and husband, Edward, of Penn Run; her son, Keith Boyer of Cherry Tree; two granddaughters, Lani Evelan and husband Raymond, of Spring Grove; and Kate Zamboni and husband, Christopher, of Vintondale; one sister, Marian Whitling of Youngstown, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George H. Boyer, in 1981; her brothers, Warren, William, Robert and Edward Campbell; and her sisters Hazel Kurtz, Louella Northwood and Helen Englert.

Her family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:30 PM, the time of her funeral service, on Tuesday, June 23rd at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana. Pastor Tom Spiker, VNA Hospice Chaplain, will officiate. Interment will be private in the Somerset County Memorial Park, Somerset, PA.

In lieu of flowers, Margaret’s family requests that memorial contributions be made to VNA Hospice, 850 Hospital Road, Suite 3000, Indiana, PA 15701.
