Obituary for Margaret Ann Scott (Mackanos)

Margaret Ann (Mackanos) Scott, 91, of Clymer peacefully passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family. Born, August 24, 1924, in Clymer to the late George and Elizabeth (Popson) Mackanos.

She was a graduate of the former Clymer High School and was an active and longtime member of the Church of the Resurrection of Clymer. Margaret embraced and adored her church family, where she was the former head of the Christian Mothers, taught CCD classes for many years, she assisted the nuns, sewed vestments for the priests, and was a Eucharist Minister. She devoted much of her life to her family, crocheting over 50 afghans for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also an avid gardener and crafter and served as the Judge of Elections in Clymer Borough.

She is survived by her three children: Betty Jo Chiodini and James Scott, both of Clymer; and John Scott, Monaca. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Margaret has three surviving siblings: Louis Mackanos, Florida; Elizabeth Monafo, Rhode Island; and Joanne Sagal, Ohio.

Along with her parents and husband, John A. Scott, Jr., she was preceded in death by her; grandsons: Christopher Chiodini and Andrew Scott. She was also preceded by her six other siblings: Joseph Mackanos, George Mackanos, Ann Saminek, John Mackanos, Virginia Martin, Mike Mackanos, and Paul Mackanos.

Margaret’s visitation and funeral service will be private. Burial will be at the St. Bernard Cemetery, Indiana. Her family is being assisted by the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Clymer.
