Obituary for Margaret B. Smith (Simko)

Margaret B.  Smith (Simko)
Margaret B. Smith, 91, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on July 5, 2014 at Northgate Manor in Wheatfield, NY. Born in Dixonville, PA she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Anna (Tvardzik) Simko.

Margaret attended local schools in Pennsylvania, including Purchase Line High School. In 1952, she married Frank E. Smith and together they moved to Florida. Shortly after their time spent in Florida, Frank and Margaret relocated to Madera, CA. Margaret was employed as a bookkeeper at Ralph’s Grocery Company located in Los Angeles, CA until her retirement after 34 years of service. Following her retirement in 1984, Margaret and Frank returned to Pennsylvania, where she was a longtime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans Affairs. Frank predeceased her in October of 1993, after 41 beautiful years of marriage. In 2001, Margaret moved to the Niagara Falls area where she has lived until the present time.

Margaret is survived by her niece, Nancy (Bryan) McKinley of Conesus, NY; her nephew, Andy (Belinda) Pappal of Niagara Falls, NY, as well as her great-nephew who she cherished dearly, Christopher Pappal also of Niagara Falls, NY. She is also survived by several other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her siblings, Betty (late Pete) Julock, Mary (late Mike) Machik, Helen (late Leo) Cieslo, John (late Josephine) Simko, Sue (late Art) Koberstein, Anne Simko, Andy Simko and Katheryn (George of Niagara Falls, NY) Pappal.

Interment in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Indiana, PA. Memorial donations may be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, WNY Affiliate, P.O. Box 5172, Buffalo, NY 14240.
