Obituary for Mary Louise Weaver (Bence)

Mary Louise Weaver (Bence)
Mary Louise (Bence) Weaver, 83, of Indiana, died unexpectedly at her home, Wednesday, July 30, 2014. The daughter of the late Seward Bence and Naomi (Coy) Bence, she was born in Clymer on February 4, 1931.

She graduated from Clymer High School in 1948 and attended classes at Indiana State Teachers College for one year. She moved to Washington DC where she was a stenographer for the State Department for two years. Mary Louise returned to Clymer and worked as a secretary at Indiana State Teachers College for three years.

In 1954 she married Jake Weaver. They lived in Miami, FL; Charlotte, NC; Portsmouth, VA and Yardley, PA before moving back to Indiana where Mary Louise and Jake retired. During her twenty six years raising her family in Yardley, she continued her work as a secretary in various fields including real estate and public schools.

Mary Louise was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and active in her Christian faith. In her time at Woodside Presbyterian Church in Yardley and Graystone Church, she served in multiple capacities; as an Elder, on pulpit search committees, visiting friends in nursing homes and hospitals. She was active in her Sunday School class, bible studies and small groups. She started every day with morning devotions and enjoyed sharing those insights with her husband of sixty years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons: Jeff Weaver and his wife, Brenda (Patterson) Weaver, Indianapolis, IN; and Rev. Dr. Dean Weaver and his wife, Beth (Murano) Weaver, Pittsburgh. Her surviving grandchildren are: Cara and Loyal Weaver, of Indianapolis; Hannah (Weaver) Gourley of Pittsburgh; Cpl Jacob Weaver, Camp Pendleton, CA; Rachel Weaver, Isaac Weaver, Sarah Weaver, and Isatu Weaver; each of Pittsburgh.

The Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home, Inc. of Indiana is assisting the Weaver Family with the service arrangements. At the request of the deceased there will be no viewing. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday morning, August 5th at 11 AM at the Graystone Presbyterian Church in Indiana. Rev. Rick Hurley will officiate. A private committal service for the immediate family will be held at the New Life Lutheran Cemetery, Dixonville.
