Obituary for Phyllis Clement (Oakes)

Phyllis Oakes Clement, 84, from Clymer, PA, died peacefully, surrounded by friends and family, at the Communities of Indian Haven on September 23, 2014.

Phyllis (“Pete”) was the daughter of William Earl and Susanna (Patterson) Oakes of Clymer. She was born on February 1, 1930, in Clymer, PA.

Phyllis was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection, Clymer, PA.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Mary Haberl and husband Guy of Indiana, William Clement and wife Brenda of Punxsutawney, Barbara Zack and husband Robert of Clymer, Susanna Sink and husband William of Homer City, and Anthony (Joe) Clement, Jr. and wife Violet of Penn Run, her eight grandchildren, and her four great grandchildren.

She is survived by her brother Robert Oakes and wife Eleanor of Clymer, brother-in-law G. David Schelfe of Clymer, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Anthony J. Clement; brothers William, Edward, Ward, and Carl; and sisters Mary Jane and Elizabeth (Betty).

Friends will be received on Friday, September 26, 2014, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home in Clymer.

Phyllis’s funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 27, 2014, at Church of the Resurrection in Clymer at 10 am by Fr. Timothy J. Kruthaupt. Internment will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Indiana. Arrangements are being handled by Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home.
