Obituary for Sangwal McGinnis

Sangwal McGinnis
Sangwal (Vilai) McGinnis, 66, of Las Vegas, NV, formerly of Indiana, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at University Medical Center in Las Vegas as the result of a tragic apartment fire.

She was born on August 15, 1948 in Ubon, Thailand and came to the United States in 1971 to reside in Indiana with her former husband, Brock (deceased), and only son, Brook. While in Indiana, Sangwal worked at IUP from 1975 to 1992 and was a member of AFSCME Local 763.

While in Las Vegas, she worked at hotels, Bally’s and Las Vegas Club, in housekeeping before she retired in 2011. Sangwal loved having fun, traveling when she could and playing bingo. She was especially known for her love of cooking Thai food and for her giving heart.

Sangwal is survived by her husband of two years, Michael Ott, of Las Vegas; her son, Brook McGinnis and his wife, Beverly, and their children, Brock, Brandon, Bret and Bethann, of Indiana. She remained close to her former mother-in-law, Mary Henry, also of Indiana.

She is preceded in death by her parents in Thailand with the status of her siblings, a sister, a brother and half-brother, unknown.

No funeral services are planned at this time; however, the family covets your thoughts and prayers.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Blessing Fund c/o Graystone Church, 640 Church St., Indiana, PA 15701, and will be used to help cover Sangwal’s final arrangement expenses.
