Obituary for Shannon Marie Simmons

Shannon Marie Simmons, 36, of Seward, died Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Hillsdale Nursing Home. She had been battling an illness for several months prior to her passing. Born in East Carroll Township, Cambria County on December 1, 1976, she was a daughter of Stephen J. Simmons, Jr. and Linda D. (Lute) Simmons of Starford.

Shannon was a graduate of the United Jr./Sr. High School. She served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Lance Corporal prior to her discharge in 2000. She was also a former employee in the meat department at the Bi-Lo Supermarket in Seward.

She enjoyed arts and crafts and was very talented at making unique projects out of ordinary materials she would find in her home. Shannon also enjoyed listening to both country and rock & roll music. In addition, she had pleasant memories of white water rafting.

She is survived by her parents and her three children: Brianne Rose Guzman; Brian Paul Simmons and Bruce Nolan Simmons, all of Starford. Her siblings are: Melissa Simmons, San Diego, CA; Stephen J. Simmons, III, Indiana, PA; and Daniel Simmons & wife, Anna, Seward.

Shannon is also survived by one niece and 2 nephews: Evamarie G. Simmons; Drake A. Simmons; and Bentley F. Simmons, all of Seward.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents: George and Florence Lute and Stephen Sr. and Clara Simmons.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
