Obituary for Stella G. Hullihen (Carnahan)

Stella G. Hullihen, 86, of Indiana, died Friday, January 17, 2014 at the Crystal Waters Personal Care Home. Born in Homer City on August 27, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Louis Carnahan and Mary (McAdoo) Carnahan. She married Charles E. Hullihen on July 16, 1946. They were married nearly 37 years until his death, June 1983.

She was a graduate of Homer City High School. For 24 years she worked as a waitress and cashier at the former Capitol Restaurant in Indiana. After the restaurant closed, Stella began working as a cashier at the Indiana Parking Garage, a job she held for 29 years until her retirement in the mid 2000’s.

She enjoyed working at home in her flower gardens and especially looked forward to being with her children, grandchildren, Jeffrey Pearce and Vickie Ringhoff, and great grandchildren, Rachel and Mason Pearce, and Rylee and Maya Ringhoff.

Stella will be remembered by her two children: Susan Pearce and her husband, Robert and Donald Hullihen, all of Indiana. Her surviving siblings are: James Carnahan, Pasadena, MD; Raymond Carnahan, Plattsburgh, NY; David and Marge Carnahan, Abilene, TX; Mary Jane Offenbacker, Clarksville, AR; Ronald Carnahan, Homer City; and Samuel Carnahan, Bossier City, LA.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three younger siblings, along with brothers, Chuck and Louis Carnahan and her daughter-in-law, Susan Hullihen.

A brief visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Monday, January 20th at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana. Her Memorial Service will be at 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Pastor Steve Bond will officiate. A private burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana.
