Obituary for Stephen J. Simmons Jr.
Stephen John Simmons, Jr., 63, of Starford, died Sunday, December 29, 2013 at his home. He had been battling an cancer for several months prior to his passing. Born in Spangler, PA on January 14, 1950, he was a son of the late Stephen J. Simmons, Sr. and Clara Jane (Simmons) Simmons.
For most of his working career he was truck driver, hauling fly ash for the National Minerals Trucking Company. He had also worked for Penn State University as a custodian and later in the construction business.
He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also liked to build things and start remodeling projects at his home.
He will be remembered by his wife of 39 years, Linda D. (Lute) Simmons. He is also survived by his children: Melissa Michelle Simmons, San Diego, CA; Stephen John Simmons, III, Indiana and Daniel Alan Simmons & wife, Anna of Seward. He had been living with three of his grandchildren: Brianne Rose Guzman, Brian Paul Simmons and Bruce Nolan Simmons. His other three grandchildren are: Drake, Evamarie and Bentley Simmons. His surviving siblings are: Mary Jane Wannagate, Cherry Tree; Ernest Wannagate, Big Bear, CA; Helen Rainey, Westover; and Elizabeth Simmons, Cherry Tree.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shannon M. Simmons, who died August 17, 2013.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the: American Cancer Society by visiting: www.cancer.org , or by calling, 1-800-227-2345.
