Obituary for Susanna Thachik (Hritcko)
Susanna “Sue” (Hritcko) Thachik, 93 of Clymer, PA., passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown, PA.
She was the daughter of George and Anna (Ruben) Hritcko, born on February 3, 1920 in Arcadia, PA.
Susanna was a member of Christ Our Savior Orthodox Church, Tanoma, PA., and its Ladies Society. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Sue was an accomplished baker well known for her pagach, paschas, and lady locks which she generously shared with family and friends.
She is survived by two children, Sandra Lawer and husband Robert of Elizabethtown, PA; Stephen Thachik and wife Donna of Elkton, MD.; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Lawer and wife Jessica and Todd Lawer; Sasha Thachik and fiancé, Dave Huber, Kusha and Stefani Thachik and three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Madison and Justin Lawer.
Also surviving are two sisters, Elaine Wilson (Clifford) of Elyria, OH; Dorothy Gerrick of Elizabethtown, PA; in addition to nieces and nephews, including special niece Beverly Pribicko Parsons who gave her unconditional love and compassionate care.
Susanna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Steve Michael Thachik; four brothers, John, George, Michael, and Joseph; four sisters, Anna Palo, Helen Federinko, Mary Hritcko, and Margaret Pribicko; one great-grandson, Alexander Lawer.
Friends will be received on Sunday, November 24, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. with a Parastas at 7 p.m. at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home, Clymer. Her funeral service will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Christ our Savior Orthodox Church with the Very Rev. Archpriest George Mitchell as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Clymer.
