Thelma May Waltermire, 79, of Everett, PA and formerly of Clymer,PA and West Winfield, NY, died after a long battle with cancer on Monday, July 8, 2013 at the Donahoe Manor in Bedford, PA. Born July 5, 1934 in Cherryhill Township, Indiana County, PA, she was a daughter of the late Clyde K. Waltermire and Veda (Stiles) Waltermire.

She was a graduate of the former Pine Township High School and Indiana State Teachers College. Thelma taught elementary school in Pennsylvania and New York. She retired in 1991, ending her 35 year teaching career.

Following her retirement, she moved to the Everett area where she became an active member of the Tatesville United Methodist Church where she is remembered as a former Sunday School teacher.

Thelma is survived by her siblings, Violet Ludwig, Monroeville; Clyde J. Waltermire & wife, Linda, Coraopolis; Ben Waltermire & wife, Marie, Rockwood; Rev. Thomas W. Waltermire & wife, Beth, Anthem, AZ; Patricia Stotler & husband, Rev. Dale, Friedens; Peggy Webber & husband, Alan, Inverness, FL; Donald Waltermire & wife, Linda, Scipio Center, NY; Nancy Constable & husband, Foster, Laceyville, PA; Mary Lou Emigh & husband, James, Clymer; and Judy McQueen & husband, Rev. Gail, New Brighton.
She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Edwin Ludwig, a step-sister, Betty Schirf and a niece, Terri Lynn.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 11th from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Clymer. Her funeral service will begin at 11 AM Friday morning at the funeral home. Her pastor, Rev. Richard Fluke of the Tatesville United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Laurel Swamp Cemetery, Kenwood.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org/donate, or to the Memorial School in Lesotho, Africa, a project that was close to Thelma’s heart. Donations to the school may be made in care of the Kenwood Church of the Nazarene, 93 Route 580 HWY, Clymer, PA 15728.
